Parade of Homes is Here!

Today is the first day of the Parade of Homes. Come tour this beautiful home specially built for Sgt. Roberts and his family. The home is open for tour the first 3 weekends in October. Come on out to Southern Oaks in Fuquay and enjoy a tour.

Furniture Staging

A very special thank you to Professional Home Staging and the Triangle Sales & Marketing Council (TSMC) Volunteers for staging our Hero Home with beautiful furniture. Professional Home Staging has donated all of the staged furniture and TSMC provided the labor. Great job everyone! Bring on Parade!!!!

MAN-CAVE Makeover

Two days of hard work really paid off! The Man-Cave Makeover came together after two days of hard word and over 40 volunteers! Thanks everyone!!

A HUGE thank you to the TREACV and other volunteers for coming out Saturday and landscaping our Hero's Home. It was amazing! 1.5 hours and the shurbs, tree, front and back yard sod were laid. Great Job!!!!

Let There Be Walls!

A little sheetrock and presto! We have walls. This first photo is a view of the family room. Check out that arch!!

Look to the right and you'll see the breakfast area .

It's hard to see it now, but this is the kitchen. The sink will be under the window and cabinets will wrap all the way around. It's going to be gorgeous.

The master bedroom features a wonderful vaulted ceiling and private bath with garden tub and separate shower.

The tub/shower in the secondary bath has been set and will soon be ready for the kids!

Meet David Hoops. David is the superintendent from Royal Oaks who is buildng this house. David's job is to keep everything on track. He coordinates all trade partners with the building schedule oversees all inspections and makes sure we deliver a fantastic house for our hero and his family. Thanks David!

Shingles, Siding and Sunset

One of the most wonderful things about living in Southern Oaks is the sunsets. Here's a view that Chrissy and Stan will have out the back door of their home.

The 1oo degree temperatures didn't stop these builders. This week we got shingles on the roof, siding on the house and the window and doors were set.

Construction Is Underway!

It aways amazes me when construction begins on a new home. In less than ten days we have gone from a concrete slab to a real house with a roof! Here's some of the progress and the workers making this dream come true.

Boy, it was hot, but it was fun! What a great community the Town of Fuquay-Varina will be for our hero and his family. OCH enjoyed meeting many of you!

Groundbreaking

What a great day! July 1, 2010 marked the official groundbreaking of Operation: Coming Home's second home.

Hero Home Recipient Named

Meet Sgt. Stan Roberts and his wife Crissy (pictured here with Rich Van Tassel, President of Royal Oaks Building Group). Stan and Crissy have recently been selected to receive our second Hero Home. Groundbreaking is scheduled for July 1st and the home should be complete by late October.

Stan served 3 tours in Iraq while in the Marine Corps. During his last tour, his AVV was attacked resulting in the loss of his right leg, injuries to his arm and tramatic brain injury.

Stay tuned for more about their story and the progress of their new home.

PROGRESS REPORT

Good news! We have several candidates in consideration for receiving the Hero's Home. Reviews and evaluations are currently underway. I'll keep you posted once a recipient has been named.

Also, the lot sign went up week indicating the homesite that our Hero's Home will be built upon. Swing by sometimes. It's in the Southern Oaks community in Fuquay-Varina, just off Judd Parkway.

Operation: Coming Home II

Here we go again! I am so excited to share with you that TREAC-V and the Home Builders Association of Raleigh/Wake County (North Carolina) has teamed with Royal Oaks Building Group, Gaines & Company, Stock Building Supply and The Stone Agency to build another home for a deserving soldier, an American Hero who has sacrificed greatly so what we may enjoy life as we know it. This blog will chronicle the activity surrounding the house and events leading up to turning the keys over to our hero. Ground breaking is scheduled for June 10, 2010 and we will turn the home over to our soldier on November 4th.
